Assault charges usually involve an allegation that you physically harmed or threatened someone.

Some assaults are treated as aggravated, which carries heavier penalties. An offence can be aggravated if, for example, the other person is your partner or former partner, other people were involved, or a weapon was used.

There may be a defence available, such as self-defence, or the evidence may not support the charge as laid. We'll tell you honestly where you stand.

Offences we defend include

  • Assault and aggravated assault

  • Causing harm

  • Causing serious harm

  • Threatening life or harm
